Transition risk on UK mortgage portfolio

With the upcoming amendment of the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (England and Wales) to improve the energy performance of private rented sector homes, banks are increasingly concerned about the potential impacts on their mortgage portfolios. Fintegral utilises two open data sources to study the possible impacts and measure the transition risk arising from energy inefficient homes.

In this publication, we demonstrate the EPC rating proportion of purchased properties across England and Wales in recent years and analyse the property price trends by EPC rating.
